What qualifications do I need to charter a bareboat sailing yacht ?

Bareboat yacht charter in Greece legally requires two crew members capable of commanding the vessel. The skipper should have an appropriate, recognized sailing certificate, or demonstrate sailing club membership. If not issued by an EU member state, certification should carry a translation in Greek or English. An official declaration stating the skippers competence may be also required if the port authorities consider this necessary.

The co-skipper should provide similar certification to the skipper. but may otherwise complete sign a self-declaration for the port authorities. Both skipper and co-skipper may also be required to submit a sailing resume to enable us to assess their ability to sail safely. Faliron Yachts reserves the right to insist that charterers hire a skipper, despite their certification, if their sailing skills are not judged sufficient by our staff.

What about skippered charters ?

If you need a skipper we are able to provide you with a professional skipper for your cruise. Even if you have experience in sailing, you may still require the services of a skipper to make your cruise more relaxing and benefit from the skippers local knowledge. There is a set daily fee of 140 €uro for the skipper regardless of the number of people on board. Please note that 1 of the boat's cabin is dedicated to the skipper, as he is always obliged to stay and sleep on board.

Where our yachts are based ?

Our yachts are berthed  in Athens Alimos Marina pier No3. 

What if I wish to embark and disembark from different places ?

This may be possible, but you will be charged an additional cost. The cost varies according to the distance between the embarkation and disembarkation port. Please ask for a quotation. The following ports are acceptable for this service: Siros, Paros islands in Cyclades region. Kos or Rhodes islands in Dodecanese. Skiathos island in Sporades region.
Please note that motor yachts can be chartered only from Athens Alimos & Floisvos Marinas.

What does the charter fee include?

Yacht prices are per yacht, per week, depending on the time of year and regardless of the number of people onboard. Number of passengers are subjects of boat's berths.
Charter fees include:
•VAT
•All clean linen including bath towels
•Yacht end cleaning
•Port- Marina fees- for the first and last night of the charter in the marina of departure and return.

What is not included in the charter fee?

• The Refundable Security Deposit.
• Food and beverage
• Engine fuel
• Port - Marina fees
•Transfers

What is the refundable security Deposit ?

The Refundable Security Deposit is held against the yachts insurance excess. If there is no damage or loss to the yacht or to its equipment, Faliron Yachts will refund the Security Deposit immediately at the end of the charter. However, if there is any damage and/or loss, the deposit or an appropriate proportion will be returned, if applicable, as soon as possible after full assessment of the cost of rectifying such damage or loss has been made. For skippered charters, the refundable deposit or part of it will be held only for damages made by respnosibility of the passengers.

What the refundable security Deposit covers ?

The Refundable Security Deposit covers:
• Loss of or damage to the vessel, its tender and third party liability.
• Loss of or damage to the equipment listed in the inventory and given to the charterer at check-in.
• Costs incurred if the vessel is returned in an unacceptabe dirty condition.
• Cost of returning the boat to the pre-arranged harbor, if the charterer fails to do so by the scheduled date and time.
• Cost of refueling if the boat is returned without refilled tanks.

Are the yachts insured?

All yachts are covered for Third Party Liability with sum insured equal or higher than the obligatory from Greek Legislation (Bodily Injury, Material Damage , Sea Pollution ) and also for several other coverage under the Institute Yacht Clauses CL 328 (1.11.85) as Water skier’s Liability , Institute Yacht Clause’s Machinery Damage , War and Strikes , Permission to Skipper/Bareboat Charter , Electronic Date Recognition , Innocent Assured Clause , Misappropriation , Personal Effects.
The above mentioned yacht insurance is valid in excess of the security Deposit.

Should I have a travel insurance?

For your own interest, you are advised to buy suitable travel insurance upon booking, including cancellation fee to protect your booking deposit.
